Dr. Mei’s journey into orthodontics began as a young patient herself. At just ten years old, she had braces that transformed her buck teeth into a confident smile. That experience not only boosted her self-esteem but also ignited a passion for orthodontics that has shaped her career. Now, as an adult and an orthodontist, Dr. Mei is proud of both her healthy bite and smile, and she is driven to create the same for her patients.
Every day, Dr. Mei looks forward to spending time with her patients, viewing them as part of her extended family. She loves building relationships with them, hearing stories of graduations, new jobs, weddings, and even the joy of treating multiple generations of the same family. From seeing familiar faces in school photos, local newspapers, and online to hearing that her patients have been inspired to pursue careers in dentistry or orthodontics, Dr. Mei finds joy in the positive impact she makes in her community.
Dr. Mei is deeply invested in her practice and the care her team provides. She is passionate about creating beautiful and healthy smiles for her patients, many of whom she sees throughout the local community at school events, church, the gym, and other gatherings. For her, each patient is more than just a case; they’re family.
Education
Dr. Mei earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery and orthodontics certificate from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, where she graduated with honors. Her academic excellence earned her induction into the prestigious Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. She was also among the few dentists in the nation to complete an accelerated combined undergraduate and DDS program, studying at both Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
Continuing education is a cornerstone of Dr. Mei’s practice. As an adjunct faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Orthodontics Department, she evaluates new technologies and techniques to ensure only the best for her patients.

Beyond The Office
A lifelong Virginian, Dr. Mei shares her life with her husband, daughter, cat, and fish. Outside the office, she enjoys staying active with jogging, swimming, tennis, and spending time at the beach. She’s a total foodie and loves being involved in her community, especially through her daughter’s school activities.
Dr. Mei is also a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, an achievement that aligns with the values she brings to her practice: honesty, hard work, respect, and helping others.
