Changing Smiles and Changing Lives
As a clinician, I love being an integral part of each patient’s journey to a healthy, beautiful smile, and witnessing their joy when they see what they’ve achieved. On a personal level, I truly enjoy getting to know my patients and their families through our conversations during visits. We build relationships that last for years, as parents bring their other children, and even themselves, for care. I love seeing familiar, beautiful smiles in our community, and sharing in each person’s life.
I have a strong love of both art and science: I knew dentistry was a good path for me and the orthodontics specialty is the perfect fit because it also allows me to spend quality time helping others.
Dominion Orthodontics
Each of us strives to treat each and every patient with the utmost care, compassion, and respect, in order to make them feel they are truly part of our orthodontic family. We all enjoy being part of our patients’ lives and sharing our own experiences, too. Our conversations build strong bonds between patients, their families, and our team.
Education and Continuing Education
I attended Lehigh University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in behavioral neuroscience with a minor in French. While at Lehigh, I was inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. I enrolled at the University of Pensylvania School of Dental Medicine, where I graduated with honors and was awarded my Doctorate of Dental Medicine.
I pursued postgraduate studies in orthodontics at Virginia Commonwealth University and received my specialty certificate in 1997.
I’m passionate about ongoing developments in orthodontic techniques, materials, and technologies. I constantly strive to further my personal and professional growth in this ever-changing field, in an unceasing effort to be the best clinician and caregiver I can be. Each year I complete many continuing education courses on a wide range of orthodontic topics, from the latest advances in clinical treatments and appliances to digital technology and patient-centered care.
Beyond the Office
I grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico and have called Glen Allen my home for more than 15 years. My husband Mark is a healthcare executive who loves watching sports and playing golf in his spare time. Mark and I have two children, Kristina and Andrew. When I’m not caring for patients, I enjoy swimming, singing, traveling and spending time with my family and friends.
Giving Back
I often participate in community service activities through my children’s schools and my local parish. I believe that to whom much is given, much is expected, and I find a sense of pride and purpose that comes from helping others and working to make the world a better place.
